One life. Two worlds
Narnia Travels grew from a love of the mountains and the feeling of stepping from one world into another.
For years, life moved between running operations and hotels in South London and escaping to the French Alps whenever possible. One day could mean working in London; hours later, skis, walking boots or a paraglider would be coming out in the mountains.
It became our other world — skiing through winter, walking and flying through summer, good food, good wine and time spent with people who shared the same passion for the mountains.
Eventually, the weekly commute stopped.
The mountains became home.
Refuge Long Churn
Our base is in Landry, in the heart of the Tarentaise Valley, between Bourg-Saint-Maurice and Aime, with Paradiski and its 425 km of skiing rising above the village.
Refuge Long Churn is our independent studio in Landry — a simple, comfortable base designed for people who have come here to make the most of the mountains.
In winter, head up to Peisey-Vallandry and Les Arcs, cross the Vanoise Express into La Plagne, or take the short drive to Montchavin and start your day from the other side of Paradiski.
In summer, leave the car behind. Walk the GR5, ride from the door, tackle the famous Alpine cols, explore the valley by e-bike, head into the Vanoise, try a via ferrata or take to the air.
Ski. Ride. Hike. Fly.
This isn't somewhere you need to spend your holiday sitting inside.
It's somewhere to come back to.
A hot shower after a day on the mountain. Somewhere secure for the skis or bikes. A kitchen for a quiet night in, with the village and its places to eat and drink only a short walk away.
Then get up and do it all again.
A Different Way to Stay in the Alps
Landry gives you something very different from staying high in a ski resort.
You are living in a real Alpine village, with a railway station, local transport and year-round life around you — while some of the world's best skiing, riding and mountain walking is just above your head.
Winter or summer, Refuge Long Churn gives you your own small base in the valley and the freedom to explore from there.
