Walking & Hiking

Step out into the Vanoise and Tarentaise mountains, with everything from gentle valley walks to full days on high mountain trails. Follow sections of the GR5, walk to remote refuges and mountain lakes, or use the summer lift network to reach higher ground and explore further.

Road Cycling

Ride some of the world-famous Alpine cols that have helped define the history of the Tour de France. From Landry, the roads lead towards legendary climbs including the Col de l’Iseran, Cormet de Roselend and Col du Petit Saint-Bernard, with plenty of challenging routes closer to home.

“Mountain Biking & E-Biking”

Ride straight from Landry and explore the Tarentaise on mountain bike or e-bike, from valley trails and forest tracks to high mountain routes. The summer lift network opens up Les Arcs, Peisey-Vallandry and La Plagne, giving you access to a huge variety of trails, descents and big days in the mountains.

Rafting

The Isère River runs through the valley, offering some of the best white-water rafting in the French Alps. From rafting and hydrospeed to canyoning, H2O Sports in Landry offers guided adventures on the river — just minutes from Refuge Long Churn.

Paragliding

See the Tarentaise from a completely different perspective with a tandem paragliding flight. Take off with a qualified instructor and fly above Peisey-Vallandry, the surrounding mountains and the valley below — no previous paragliding experience required.

Via Ferrata

Head up the valley to Peisey-Nancroix and the Via Ferrata des Bettières, a spectacular route climbing the rock above the Rosuel valley. With cables, iron steps and increasingly challenging sections as you climb, it's a great way to experience the mountains from a different perspective, surrounded by the scenery of the Vanoise National Park.

River Fishing

Enjoy a quieter side of the valley with river fishing in the Isère and surrounding mountain streams. With clear Alpine water and dramatic mountain scenery, it's a peaceful way to spend a few hours away from the trails and lifts, with opportunities for trout fishing around the Tarentaise.
